My love for art  ....

As a child, art in all forms was my calming mechanism.   I drew, doodled and painted and never in my wildest dreams did I think I would become a professional artist.  I studied computer programming in college and came to realize that I had an aptitude for it therefore came to the U.S to earn an MBA in Information Technology.  After graduating in 1994, my family, travel and rapidly growing career took over my time and I found very little time for art and life went along.

In 2014, I quit my management job and took some time off to decide what my next career move would be.  During this time, I came across a book on Zentangle® and found myself spending hours learning about it and tangling all the time; often, finding myself in a meditative state I didn’t think an impatient type “A” person like me could ever achieve.  This steered me towards becoming a Certified Zentangle® teacher.  With the support of my family there was no turning back and art became my new focus.  I found myself living a whole new life!  I started learning the tools of the trade online, self-learning through books, and workshops in watercolor, acrylics, chinese brush painting, printmaking as well as pen & ink at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston.

My journey is filled with learning experiences about creativity, skills, business, marketing, people, and the challenges that go with owning the label of being self-taught.  It takes a lot of hard work but love every aspect of it because I am passionate about my work and committed to the practice of learning.  I focus mainly on abstract mixed media work, and Zentangle® inspired work which also leans towards abstraction.  My style of painting is strictly intuitive but I flow easily through different styles depending on my mood.  I love the feeling of each of my mediums, textures and methods of using my hand and palms to smear and mix acrylic paints, throwing, dripping, pouring, spraying, using brushes, scrapers,  crayons, and pastels in any way that comes to mind painting in layers, searching for a meaning in random intentions, and then pulling out the images I see.  I am inspired by places and things I see around me - a line, a shadow, a texture, a color.  Form and shape and how color masses interact - it's all part of what gets me going in a creative pursuit.  Combining words and images, my art pieces capture the energy, relay the stories told through symbolism, colors, textures and media used.
